Three Haibun Published in Anthology

I’m so pleased that three of my haibun: “On the Way,” “Anchoring,” and “Driving Home,” have been published in Contemporary Haibun, Volume 12, just out from Red Moon Press. I got my copy in the mail yesterday and have begun reading my fellow poets in the book. I’m honored to be in such fine company!

I am still writing and submitting my free verse poems—wrote quite a number of those at VCCA—but writing haibun has become increasingly compelling. I really love working in the genre, especially exploring the relationship between (poetic) prose and verse. For me, integrating haiku into haibun prose functions like dropping a stone into a pond—the haiku causes ripples to go out and out, enhancing and expanding the content. It’s both fun and challenging.
